My personal story and therapeutic approach
I began my therapy training during my personal quest to heal myself in my 20's when I was diagnosed with a serious chronic and debilitating illness - MS (Multiple Sclerosis). Because my disability radically affected my performance career I was challenged in an especially radical way to reasses my life goals and deeper identity. I became a living example of the importance of integrated therapy and mind/body work. I learned to transform my "problem" into a tool which enabled me to explore the deeper meaning of existence and new emotional and spiritual paths. I began studying a wide range of therapeutic techniques to this end. Even today I continue to study emerging theories and therapeutic strategies in order to better assist my own growth as well as my clients'. While a serious chronic disease like MS is never really cured, I am happy to say that it barely impairs my ability to function. "In addition to my private practice in Mexico, I also spent many years working with serious illness (MS, AIDS, Cancer) and terminal patients in particular. I also worked in the senior residence home of the Jewish community in Mexico. I led many activities in groups there such as biblio-therapy, movement, psychodrama and music therapy. I also did individual Cranio-Sacral Therapy and EMDR at the nursing home and hospice department. I trained the staff of the old age home to learn how to work with the terminally ill and helped them deal with their own difficulties through it. After making aliya (immigrated to Israel), along with my private practice, I led the personal and professional growth groups in Mind-Body psychotherapy at Reidman College for 3 years. I also became involved with working with survivors and the family of victims of terrorist attacks. |
