Myth No 1: I need to pay a SEO ( "search engine optimization" ) company to get a good search engine rating
You have probably heard by now that there are companies out there that are able to (magically) get your web site a very high rating on the search engines. These companies use all sorts of "tricks"and schemes to do this. They will build pages that will "draw"themselves attention to the search engines in ways that the search engines may or may not allow. The SEO company does not really care what Google wants - their aim is to bring your site as high as it can.
The truth is, the search engine companies also want you to get a high rating, and they do NOT want you to have to pay a high fee for this. Their reasoning is that they want, when their client goes to search on their page, that client will get the best web sites as quickly as possible that they are searching for.
As such, the search engines tell web builders how to get your site a high rating. There is no magic. If you are a genuine producer of short films in the Tel Aviv area, and your web builder uses the methods of coding that the search engines told him to use, you will probably get a high rating.
A good Web producing company, like Kesher, will have a short document that will demystify what you need to do for this result, and will take no extra fee for this, since the procedure is quite easy.
Not only that - Google and Microsoft and other large search engine companies, have human staff and computers that go through sites to see if they are cheating. Sites such as these are put on a blacklist that is shared between the search engines - and you may find your site banned in these engines forever.
In short - Kesher works with each client it has in order to buld their pages according to Search engine guidelines to get you a legal, higher rating.
Myth No 2: Most of my users will come from search engines, thus I need to pay a lot of money to get a high rating
Many people think that the important part of their web site is that now millions of people will soon know about them by searching for them in Google.
They build a web site and then sit and wait for huge numbers of users to visit and purchase their goods and or services.
If this is your plan...ou are in for a terrible disappointment. While you will get users to your site this way, for most web sites, even a high rating in Google will not mean more visitors - and even less sales.
Myth No 3: If I am not rated high in Google, no one will come to my web site
The truth is that, having a web site, you will now have a way to send people to your web site.
When once you had to spend long conversations to people to explain yourself, now, you can give them a short version, hand them a card with your web address and tell them they can learn and see much more, at their convenience, on your web site.
Users like this, to visit your web site, at home, and to evaluate your company from the impression your site makes on them.
Once you have a web site, you need to promote it. Sounds hard? Not really. But you need to do several things:
Change your cards and stationary - you need to have your web site address accessible on all your company materials; stationary, cards, envelopes, flyers, etc. Don't skimp on this!
Talk about it - tell your clients about your web site. When you meet someone, give them your card. Have the address on your packages and on a sign in your store.
Promotion ideas - A good Web Production company will give you ideas where you can promote your web site. Ask us for ideas!
